Making a Drum Sander - Part 3 - Tilting table

29/07/2024

To regulate the working height of the drum sander I decided to go for the simplest solution – tilting table.

On the front side of the base, I added a beech board with an M8 nut in the middle. Through the nut goes an M8 threaded rod with a fly nut fixed on the bottom end.

The tilting table itself consists of a particle board strengthened with beech boards and a second layer of particle boards underneath. The front edge is strengthened with an angle iron which also adds a hard surface for the height-regulating screw to push against.

The back edge of the tilting table is strengthened with beech strips and connected to the base with two hinges.

At this stage, the drum sander looked almost finished and it was possible to start working on the propulsion – about that next week.
